Walked into a customer's living room and saw a pile of 6 dead power strips under their TV stand

They had daisy-chained three of them together over the last year to plug in more gaming consoles, and the last one finally fried when the fridge next to the surge protector kicked on. The before and after was insane - before was a tangled mess of extension cords everywhere, after was just one beefy UPS from a clean outlet. Has anyone else seen a setup that just made you cringe as soon as you walked in?

Honestly I'm gonna push back on this, I've daisy chained power strips for years and never had a single issue. People act like it's gonna burn the house down but if you're just plugging in low draw stuff like consoles and tvs, the math works out fine. A fridge on a surge protector is dumb no matter how you slice it, that's user error not the setup's fault. One beefy UPS is overkill for a bunch of gaming consoles that barely pull 200 watts each. You end up with this huge expensive brick taking up floor space for no reason. Power strips were literally designed to handle this stuff, the real problem is people buying the cheapest garbage from dollar stores.

lol @harris.aaron I've been in IT for a minute and the real issue nobody's talking about is those cheap power strips have zero surge protection after like the first hit. So even if the math works, you're basically running everything raw off the wall with extra failure points.
