Stumbled on a bad cap batch at a shop in Anaheim last month

I was picking up parts at this little electronics supply spot off Katella and the owner showed me a whole tray of 470uF 25v caps that were failing after 6 months. He said they came from a distributor he'd used for years but the batch numbers all started with a certain code. Has anyone else run into counterfeit caps that look legit but die way too fast?

Used to trust batch codes blindly but that Anaheim story made me check every single one now.

Blew up my own test board last week with a cap that looked perfect but lasted about as long as a chocolate bar in my pocket.
