Spent 6 hours chasing a ground loop hum on a vintage amp that turned out to be a loose tube socket
Had to reflow every single solder joint before I noticed the tube wasn't seating right, has anyone else had a dumb simple fix eat up a whole day like that?

Man that is the most frustrating thing in the world. I spent four hours once trying to fix a buzz on an old Fender amp and it was just a dirty input jack. All that time wasted over something so simple. Makes you want to throw the whole thing out the window. But when you finally find it you feel like a genius for five seconds. Then you just feel dumb for not checking it sooner.

Oh man, the worst part is that you KNOW you should check the simple stuff first but your brain just skips right over it. I did the same thing with a wah pedal once, spent an afternoon resoldering half the circuit board before realizing the battery was just dead. The five seconds of genius is real though, I felt like a rockstar for finding it until I realized I could have just plugged in a different power supply from the start. Feels like the universe is testing your patience sometimes.
