So I've been holding my soldering iron wrong for like a decade
A new apprentice in our Charlotte shop pointed out that I grip it like a pencil, way too close to the tip. He said, 'You're gonna cook your fingers off,' and I realized my hand has been cramping after every big job. Anyone else have a weird habit they didn't notice for ages?

That "cook your fingers off" line got me. Did the apprentice show you a better way to hold it, or did you have to figure out out on your own? I'm curious what the actual proper grip feels like after a decade of doing it wrong.

Oh man, my buddy did the same thing with his drill for years. He finally figured out why his wrist always hurt.
