One comment about my flux choice changed my whole rework process
A guy I met at a repair meetup in Cleveland watched me reball a BGA and said, "Stop using that sticky crap, it's why you're fighting bridges." Switched to a gel flux from Amtech, 183 paste, and my first board came out clean in 20 minutes. Anyone else get told their basic supplies were the actual problem?

Heard the same thing from a guy who does board repair for a living, said he watched someone fight a rework for an hour with that syrupy flux and just shook his head. He told me the tackiness is what traps air and makes bridges worse, especially on fine pitch stuff. Swapped to a gel that actually flows under the chip when it heats up, night and day difference. I used to blame my iron or my stencil, but really it was just me using the wrong tool for the job. Its funny how something so basic can be the whole problem and you never think to question it.
