My old oscilloscope finally died mid-diagnosis last month
I was working on a vintage stereo receiver at my bench in Cleveland. About 30 minutes into tracing a noisy channel, my trusty Tektronix 465 just went dark. No pop, no smell, just a dead screen. I spent the next hour digging through my parts bins and found a bad capacitor on the power supply board inside the scope. Replaced it with a spare I had from a kit, and the scope fired right back up. Has anyone else had a piece of test gear save itself by being repairable like that?

My Tektronix 475 did the exact same thing two years ago, fixed it with a $3 cap too.
