Just hit 2000 PS4 HDMI port repairs and I'm starting to see a pattern with the slim models

Actually noticed the opposite with my repairs. The slims seem to have a more robust port than the original fat models, at least in my shop. The main failure point I see is the HDMI retimer chip going bad, not the port itself getting loose. The solder joints on the port are usually fine.

Oh man, the retimer chip is the real villain here. It's always the fancy little brain box that gives up first, not the big obvious port you'd think would fail. Makes you wonder why they didn't just make that part a little tougher instead.
