I was replacing a surface-mount capacitor on a laptop motherboard in my shop and my tweezers slipped, sending the tiny part flying into the void of my carpet.

After spending 45 minutes on my hands and knees with a magnet and a flashlight, I finally found it stuck to the leg of my workbench, but has anyone else had a simple repair turn into a scavenger hunt like that?

Oh man, I once spent an hour looking for a spring that shot across the room.

That's the worst. Those tiny springs are like ninjas, man. I've found them stuck to the side of a trash can a week later. Once had one land perfectly inside an empty mug across the workshop. Took me forever to hear it rattle when I finally picked the cup up.
