I finally dropped $40 on a good desoldering gun
Been fighting with cheap solder suckers for years, last week I bit the bullet and bought a Hakko FR-301. Did a motherboard recap in half the time. Has anyone else found that one tool that just makes the job easier?

My buddy Mike dropped $60 on a Weller WES51 iron and he still brings it up every time we’re fixing something. He bought it after he tried to solder a wire on his car stereo with a $15 iron from Harbor Freight and it took him three hours of cussing and cold joints. Now he just melts through stuff like butter and calls it his “therapy tool.” Have you had any projects where you wish you’d just spent the money earlier?
