Hot take: I picked the $40 Chinese hot air station over the Hakko last year.
It's been running strong for 8 months now, and I've done over 50 board-level repairs with it. Anyone else have a surprisingly good experience with a budget tool?

Saw a teardown video on one of those cheap stations. The reviewer was shocked by the decent build quality. Said the heating element and air pump were basically clones of the name-brand parts. Makes sense they'd last a while if you don't abuse them.

Feel you on that... my cheap station lasted about as long as I treated it nice too. Glad yours is still kicking though, that's a win.

Yeah, "don't abuse them" is the key lol. My first cheap station died because I treated it like a rental car.
