A guy at the flea market showed me his fix for a cracked PS4 HDMI port
He had a busted launch model and instead of replacing the whole port, he carefully soldered jumper wires from the board pads to a new port he'd glued in place. Said he'd done it on 12 consoles that way and only had one fail later. Has anyone else tried a repair like that, or is a full board rework still the better move?

It's basically a bodge wire job, but if it works it works. The real test is how it holds up to someone plugging and unplugging a cable over and over.

Honestly that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I mean, glue and jumper wires on a high speed connection? That one failure he mentioned is gonna become a lot more.
