A client's comment about a $20 multimeter made me reconsider my whole bench setup

They pointed out that my old Fluke 87V, while accurate, was overkill for 90% of quick continuity checks. Now I keep a basic Uni-T on the bench for those jobs and save the good meter for real diagnostics. Anyone else run a 'beater' meter for simple stuff?

My buddy's Harbor Freight meter saved his main Fluke.

My old boss made us use the $7 Harbor Freight meter for any sketchy 240V checks. That policy saved two Fluke 87s in a year. The fuse in the cheap meter blows first every time.
