60 failed solder joints later I finally figured out my iron was too hot

Been fighting cold joints on a vintage receiver for two weeks. Finally checked my temp with a thermocouple and realized my Weller was reading 100 degrees off. Anybody else had a station drift like that?

Blame it on cheap calibration tools if you want, but I've noticed everything from kitchen ovens to car thermostats drift over time too.

Ain't that the truth. Everything with a sensor seems to go wonky eventually.
