Unpopular opinion: I heard a homeowner in Dallas say 'just twist the wires together tight' and it made me cringe
That's how you get a hot connection that fails in a year. Has anyone else had to fix a DIY job where someone thought tight was good enough?

I read an article once that said a proper twist with wire nuts is about the friction and surface contact, not just brute force. You can actually make a weak connection by over-tightening and breaking the strands. It's one of those things that seems simple but has a real technique to it. I've seen that exact failure, a light flickering after a year from a connection that just got hot and loose.

Yeah, that's exactly what my old boss taught me.
