The panel schedule habit that took me 11 years to adopt

Had an older electrician look over my work during a rough-in inspection in Columbus back in March. He pointed at my panel and said, "your labels look nice but you'll hate yourself in 5 years." I always wrote circuit numbers next to the breakers but never kept a printed schedule taped inside the door. He showed me how he fills out a legend with room names and amp draws before landing a single wire, then updates it as he goes. Took me maybe an extra 20 minutes per panel, but now I'm on my 30th one and it's completely changed how fast I troubleshoot callbacks. Anyone else keep a running list on paper, or are we all digital now?
