That Tuesday where everything went wrong on a new build

Last Tuesday I had a rough day on a new build out in Maplewood. I spent 2 hours trying to find a dead short in a hallway circuit only to realize I forgot to tape the neutral wire on my wire nut. Then my impact driver died halfway through hanging a panel, and the replacement battery was also dead because I didn't check it. To top it off, the homeowner walked in and asked if I could finish by noon. Has anyone else had a day where the small mistakes just stacked up like that?

Wait, you forgot to put the pot under the brewer and just walked off? That's a whole new level of brain fog right there.

The 2 hour dead short thing hit close to home because I did something similar last spring on a rough-in where I spent 45 minutes chasing a phantom issue and it turned out to be a wire that got nicked by a staple. It made me think about how those little mistakes stack up in everything, not just electrical work. Like yesterday I tried to make coffee and forgot to put the pot under the brewer, just walked away and came back to a mess on the counter. Its almost like your brain gets into this mode where you skip the small checks because you're already thinking three steps ahead, and then boom, you're paying for it in time and frustration. I notice it happens more when I'm tired or rushing, which is pretty much always these days. Hard to slow down when you've got a schedule to keep but those tiny things really add up.
