Switched from push connectors to Wagos after a service call in a crawlspace

I had this house in Beaverton where the lights kept flickering. Pulled the switch out and found push connectors that looked fine but one had a tiny bit of corrosion inside. Swapped them all out with Wagos on that whole floor and the problem never came back. Cost me about 15 bucks extra but saved me a return trip. Has anyone else had push connectors fail on them like that?

My buddy Mike ran into the same thing last year in a kitchen reno. He used push connectors on some can lights and three months later the homeowner called him back saying two lights were dead. Pulled them out and the plastic was actually cracked on one of them, which let moisture get in. He switched to Wagos and said it was the best 10 bucks he ever spent on a job. Told me he learned his lesson the hard way and now only uses Wagos for anything that gets even a little bit of heat or humidity. Really makes you wonder why builders still use those push things in places like bathrooms.

I had that happen with a bathroom exhaust fan I wired up, used push connectors and six months later had to go back because the fan was intermittent. Cracked the plastic right at the insertion point, just like your buddy said. Switched to Wagos for anything near moisture and haven't had a callback since, it's just not worth the headache.
