Old master electrician told me I was burning my wire strippers totally wrong...

I was at a supply house in St. Louis last Tuesday picking up some 12/2 romex and an old guy just walked over and said I was grinding my blades flat. I had no clue. He showed me to only squeeze the handles like 3/4 of the way and let the jaws do the work. Its been a month and my Klein's still cut like new. Anyone else had someone call them out on basic stuff like that?

Did your buddy also get the part about letting the tool do the work? I had a helper who was squeezing his linesmans so hard the jaws chipped. Took a foreman five seconds to spot it.
