Got a win today with a stubborn ground fault in an old building.

Was called out for intermittent shocks in a kitchen remodel. Found the ground wire had corroded where it met the pipe. Cleaned it up and added a new clamp, no more issues. Curious how you all handle corrosion in older installations.

Saw a thread once where an old timer swore by using antioxidant paste on those cleaned-up pipe connections. He said the stuff they use for aluminum wiring stops the green gunk from coming back so fast. I keep a tube in my bag now for any old work. Ever give that a try?

Antioxidant paste for pipe corrosion is a neat hack. I've got a tube for aluminum work but never thought to use it elsewhere. How thick do you lay it on, and does it need to be cleaned off before making the connection? Wonder if it could trap moisture underneath if applied wrong. What's the oldest pipe you've treated that still looks clean?
