A retired inspector told me to check the neutral at every service call

Ran into a guy named Frank at the supply house who used to inspect for the city. He said he saw more callbacks from loose neutrals than anything else, even on new work. Told me he carries a torque screwdriver in his pocket and checks them out of habit now. Made me realize I only really look at them when there's a problem. Do you guys make that a standard part of your initial walk through?

Man, that reminds me of the time I found a neutral held on by a single strand of copper in a brand new McMansion.

Yeah I used to be the same way, only checked if something was acting up. But after a few weird voltage calls I started looking first, and man, it's crazy how often they're just barely hanging on.
