Warning: Took a college advisor's word on my major path and wasted 2 semesters

Met with Dr. Henderson at my community college in Tulsa last fall. She told me I had to take Intro to Economics before I could even apply for the business program. Turned out she was reading from an outdated catalog from 2019. After I failed econ twice, a different advisor told me I could have started the program right away. Anyone else get led around by outdated info from someone who's supposed to know better?

oh man, this hits close to home. i had basically the same thing happen at my community college with a pre-nursing track. they told me i needed to take this whole year of random science classes before i could even talk to the nursing department. turned out the counselor just had the wrong info and i wasted a whole fall semester on classes i didn't even need. what i learned is to always double check everything with the actual department head or program coordinator yourself, not just the general advisors. also, if it's a 4 year school you're aiming for, look up their transfer guides online and bring those printed out to your meetings. that way you've got proof of what's actually required.

Did your friend ever get those wasted credits to transfer?
