Warning: I spent 2 years using Khan Academy math videos wrong

I used to just watch the videos and think I learned it, never doing any of the practice problems. It took failing a placement test at our local community college for me to see the issue. Has anyone else found they learn way more by doing the problems first and only using the video when stuck?

Oh yeah, I heard a study saying trying stuff first builds way better memory.

You said "only doing the practice problems when stuck" and that REALLY hit home for me. See, I'm the complete opposite of you - I jump straight into the problems and ONLY go to the video when I've tried and failed like three times. So my question is, did you find that watching the video FIRST actually made it HARDER to learn, or did it just give you a false sense of knowing the material? Because I've always wondered if going straight to the problems is wasting my time when I don't know what I'm doing yet.
