That free phonics workshop last Tuesday changed everything for my son
My kid was stuck on blending sounds for months. The leader showed us hand motions to match each sound, and he read his first word in 10 minutes. Has anyone else tried kinesthetic techniques for reading?

Totally agree, @caseyrivera. Hand motions are the only reason I can spell my own name some days. My brain just gives up after the morning coffee wears off.

The hand motion for the "m" sound where you rub your tummy like you're eating something yummy was the one that clicked for my daughter. She had been mixing up "b" and "d" for weeks until we started using air writing with our fingers in big sweeping motions. The muscle memory just seemed to lock it in place for her. I've started doing a quick 2 minute warm-up with letter gestures before we even open a book now.
