I called those online coding bootcamps a scam for years

I was sure you needed a four-year degree to get a real job in tech. Then a friend of mine finished a six-month program in Chicago and landed a job making 75k. I looked at the curriculum and it was all stuff companies actually use, not just theory. They had him building real projects from day one. Now I'm the one eating my words. Has anyone here made a similar switch and found a good program that actually works?

Totally get the "eating my words" feeling. I was the same way, telling everyone you needed a CS degree. Then my cousin did a bootcamp and was building full web apps with user logins and payment systems in like, month three. I was still in school writing essays about old programming languages. It really flipped my view. What program did your friend do in Chicago?

Tastes like humble pie, doesn't it? I was that guy telling everyone they were wasting their money. So which bootcamp proved us wrong?
