Had to pick between two online math programs for my kid and one was a total bust

My son's 7th grade teacher gave us two options for extra practice: IXL and Khan Academy. I went with IXL first because the school pushed it hard. After three weeks, my kid was frustrated every night. The program kept knocking his score down for wrong answers and he'd get stuck on the same problem for 20 minutes. So I switched him to Khan Academy and it was night and day. The video lessons explain stuff step by step and he can rewind whenever he wants. His quiz grades went up by 15 points in two weeks. Has anyone else found that paid programs aren't always better than the free ones?

I mean yeah Khan is fine but people act like picking the wrong math program is some life or death decision. Your kid went up 15 points in two weeks, so obviously the switch worked for him. But IXL works fine for tons of kids, it just depends how your kid learns. My nephew uses IXL and he actually likes the pressure of having to get things right. Not every kid needs video lessons, some need to grind through problems. It's not that deep.

Wait, did you actually change your mind on paid programs like IXL too, @andrew_sanchez94?
