Vent: Spent $150 on a fancy smart thermostat and it actually made my bills higher
I put in a Nest last November thinking it would save me money, but my electric bill went up $20 a month because it kept running the AC when nobody was home. Has anyone else had a "smart" device actually make things worse?

Sometimes those "smart" features just run unnecessary cycles because the sensors are too sensitive or placed wrong. Bet the factory settings are optimized for test labs not real homes.
