Tried to fix a squeaky floorboard with baby powder, now I have a ghostly white cloud under my rug.
Sprinkled a whole 8oz bottle between the boards, and the squeak is gone but powder puffs out every time someone walks over it. Anyone know a better method that doesn't turn my living room into a crime scene?

Oh man, that sounds like a mess! Honestly, I used to swear by baby powder for squeaks too. But I tried this wood floor lubricant in a syringe last year and it totally changed my mind. You just squeeze a tiny bit right into the crack. It soaks into the wood and stops the noise without any dust. Way less cleanup for sure.

Nah, that stuff always leaves a greasy stain though.
