TIL that a simple valve adjustment stopped my radiator from banging all winter
I had this loud banging noise coming from my radiator every time the heat kicked on. After six months of putting up with it, I finally took off the cover and saw the bleeder valve was barely a quarter turn away from being fully open. I tightened it up myself in about two minutes and now the thing runs silent as a church mouse. Has anyone else had a heating issue that turned out to be something this basic?

Yeah, the bleeder valve being off is a classic. I've seen that one a bunch. Also check if your pipes are sloped right, sometimes air gets trapped and makes that racket.

Man that's a good point about the pipes being sloped wrong... I had the exact same issue a few years back and it drove me crazy at night. Couldn't figure out why the banging kept happening until a buddy told me to check the slope. It's one of those things you don't think about until you're lying there listening to it clank away. Hope you get it sorted out without too much headache.
