Three hours to hang a picture hook. Three hours.
Last Saturday I decided to hang a heavy mirror over the couch. I measured twice, drilled once, and hit a metal pipe behind the drywall. Spent the next 2 hours patching the hole, waiting for spackle to dry, and rethinking my life choices. How is it possible to mess up something that basic in a 1980s tract home in Phoenix?

I mean, three hours for a picture hook is rough but not that unusual.

Heard a contractor say on a podcast that sometimes the 'new guy tax' is just them being extra careful, not slow. Still feels like a lot though @the_vera, but I guess peace of mind has a price. Ever had a handyman job that took way longer than you expected?
