The vinyl siding hook trick that saved my downspout, no ladder needed

My downspout clogged right at the elbow last month and I was dreading dragging out the extension ladder again. I saw a tip about using a cheap vinyl siding removal hook to pull the pieces apart from the ground, and it honestly worked in about 20 minutes. I just hooked the bottom edge of the elbow joint, gave it a firm tug, and the whole section popped loose without any cracking. Then I could clear the leaves out and snap it back together, no ladder at all. Has anyone else tried this or do you have a better way to reach those high spots when you're working solo?

Man, I feel you on that ladder dread. Solo work is such a pain when you gotta haul gear around just to clear some leaves. That hook trick sounds like a total lifesaver, glad it worked out so smooth!
