The feedback on my caulk job hurt but fixed my bathroom
My neighbor told me my bathroom caulk looked like a 5 year old did it, and he was right about the lumpy finish. He showed me to use tape and a wet finger to smooth it out instead of just squeezing and wiping. Has anyone else had a simple tip from someone that made a big difference in your work?

Yeah but isn't scraping it all off and starting fresh kind of the whole point after bad feedback? You learn the trick, you redo the whole thing, you move on.

...and honestly who actually teaches you this stuff? I learned the wet finger trick from a guy at Home Depot after my third attempt at recaulking my tub looked like a drunk snake crawled through it. But here's what gets me about your post - you said the feedback hurt but fixed things. So did that neighbor come back to check your work after you redid it, or are you just trusting that it looks better now? Because I swear half the battle with caulk is not even the technique, it's knowing when to just scrape it all off and start fresh instead of trying to patch over your mistakes.
