Rant: those $50 push-to-connect fittings are a complete scam for copper pipes

I used them on a shower valve replacement in my 1920s bungalow and both failed within 3 weeks, so tell me why anyone would choose these over a simple soldered joint that costs under $5 and actually holds?

Wait were they the brass ones or the cheaper nickel plated ones? I've heard the brass ones hold up better but still no way they're worth $50 a pop.

Funny you mention the brass ones. Buddy of mine bought a set of the brass ones last year and they started tarnishing weird after like two months in his bathroom. He tried polishing them and it just made it worse, so now he's stuck with these ugly spotty handles that cost him an arm and a leg. You ever run into that kind of finish problem before?
