Rant: store-bought drain cleaner vs a cheap snake - one is clearly a scam

I spent $12 on two bottles of Drano Max gel to clear a slow kitchen sink last weekend, and it did NOTHING after sitting overnight. Then I grabbed a $8 plastic drain snake from the hardware aisle and pulled out a clump of gross sludge in 3 minutes flat. Why does anyone even bother with those chemical bottles when a simple tool works way better?

I mean, is it really that serious though? Like yeah, the snake worked this time, but your sink might just have been clogged with loose hair and food scraps that were easy to grab. A plastic snake is not gonna do anything for a hard grease buildup or a clog deep in the pipes that's been solidifying for months. Drano has its place if you're dealing with organic stuff that's actually breaking down, not just a wad of gunk you can fish out. Maybe it's just me but I think people act like drain cleaner is a total scam when really it's just not the right tool for every single clog.
