Rant: I spent 2 years pushing a stuck garbage disposal button wrong

Was at my sink last week hitting that red reset button on the bottom of the disposal with a broom handle. My wife walks over, sticks her hand under and pushes it once. Fires right up. Told me I was pressing it sideways instead of straight on for two years. I never even thought to look at the angle I was pushing. Anyone else accidentally make a simple fix harder than it needs to be?

Dude that is hilarious. I spent like six months trying to fix a leaky faucet handle by cranking it tighter. Turns out the little o-ring was just dried out and needed a $2 replacement. Sometimes you just get stuck in your own head and miss the obvious thing right in front of you.
