Paid $80 for a fancy caulking gun and it was totally worth it
I know that sounds dumb because you can get a basic one for like $8 at Home Depot. But I've been fighting with those cheap squeeze triggers for years on my rental flips. They always jam halfway through a tube, or the plunger snaps off on a cold morning. Finally bit the bullet on one of those ratchet rod style guns. First bead on my bathroom baseboard came out perfect no globs no skipping. Actually finished a whole bathroom in 20 minutes without wanting to throw something. Has anyone else finally spent the cash on a tool you were too cheap to buy and it paid off?

There's something to be said about buying the right tool once instead of fighting the cheap version for years. That same logic applies to a lot of things in life like kitchen knives or even a decent vacuum cleaner.

And it goes double for things with moving parts. I had a cheap bench grinder for years that would vibrate so bad it walked right off the workbench. Finally bought a good Delta model and it runs smooth as butter. Same story with my dad and his lawn mower. He bought the discount store special every two years until I talked him into a Honda. That was ten years ago and it still starts on the first pull. The cheap stuff costs you time and frustration, not just money.
