Just realized I've been cleaning my shower head wrong for like 5 years

I was scrolling through a plumbing subreddit yesterday and someone mentioned just soaking your shower head in vinegar overnight instead of scrubbing it. I always used a brush and it never really got all the gunk out. So I tried it last night with a ziploc bag and some rubber bands and my water pressure doubled this morning. It cost me like 50 cents of vinegar instead of buying a new $15 head. Has anyone else tried this and did it work for you too?

Should also mention that adding a little dish soap to the vinegar mix helps cut through the smell and gets rid of any greasy residue. Rinsing the head out with hot water before you put it back on makes a big difference too. Try pairing that with the toothpick trick to knock out any stubborn scale and you'll be golden.

Man, I've tried the vinegar bag method twice and both times it left a weird smell in the water for days. Had to run like 10 gallons through it before it went away. I actually had better luck just taking the head off and picking the scale out with a toothpick.
