After 40 years of painting trim, I finally learned why my brush strokes always showed
I used to load the brush heavy and push the paint around until it looked even, leaving lap marks every time. Last weekend I watched a YouTube video from a old painter in Vermont who said to dip only the tip and lay it down without pressing hard. Has anyone else had that moment where a tiny change in technique fixed a problem you'd been fighting for decades?

Can't say I fully agree with that. Dipping just the tip works for some paints but with the thicker stuff I've always had better luck working fast with a well loaded brush and just laying it down in one direction without going back over it. That Vermont guy knows his stuff for sure but there's more than one way to skin this cat.

Yeah but "more than one way to skin this cat" - are we really talking about life or death here? It's paint, man. I mean yeah the Vermont guy has good technique but some of y'all act like you're performing open heart surgery with a brush. If the paint goes on smooth and dries right who cares if you dipped the tip or loaded the whole dang bristle? People spend way too much time arguing about proper form when half the time the paint's gonna look fine either way once it's dry.
