The difference in my finish work after getting a 12 inch drywall knife
I used to only use a 6 inch knife for all my taping and bedding... then on a job in Denver last spring, a guy showed me his 12 inch knife for the final coat. Man, the difference was night and day. I went from needing 3 coats to just 2 and the feathering was way smoother. Has anyone else had that moment where a bigger knife just clicked for them?

Three coats down to two with just a bigger knife? That's crazy. I had the exact same thing happen with a 14 inch box knife after fighting with a 10 inch for years. The first time I pulled a full 14 inch pass and it laid down perfectly flat, I almost dropped the knife. It's like the tool just knew what to do.

I mean that moment when you finally get the right tool and it just clicks is something else. My buddy runs a drywall crew and he talks about upgrading to a 14 inch knife like it was a life changing event too. Idk if it's just me but sometimes I think we put up with bad tools way longer than we should because we're used to them. It's kind of wild how one simple change can make the whole job feel different.
