Overheard two guys at Home Depot arguing about pre-filling screw holes and it got me thinking about my own method

Has anyone tried the opposite where you dont prefill but actually use a little glue inside the hole before driving the screw? I started doing that with outdoor projects and it seems to help keep the wood from rotting out around the screws over time. It also fills any tiny gaps the screw leaves behind so you dont get those moisture pockets later on. Have you ever messed with that or stuck to just the dry method?

Is it really that big of a deal either way? I've been doing wood projects for years and never once thought about pre-drilling screw holes until someone brought it up in a Home Depot aisle. Honestly, it feels like one of those things people turn into a whole debate just to feel like they know something. Unless you're building something that actually has to hold weight or look perfect, does it even matter? A lot of times I just grab whatever drill bit is close and send it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think people overthink the small stuff.
