Just hit 200 square feet of tape and mud in a single shift
I always thought 150 was my limit but pushed through on a kitchen ceiling job yesterday. Got me wondering if speed is worth it if the finish quality drops. Any of you guys have a magic number where you stop trying to beat the clock?

200 square feet? Man, my back hurts just reading that number. I did 180 once and spent the next three days walking around like a question mark. There's no magic number for me, it's more about when I start getting sloppy and have to sand twice as much the next day. Speed is great until you're staring at a ceiling full of ridges you made trying to save ten minutes.

Step funny, because my "save ten minutes" moves always end up costing me an extra hour of my life I'll never get back. I've definitely been that guy trying to race through a ceiling, only to wake up the next morning and realize I painted myself into a corner of regret and bad finish work. The worst part is when you're hunched over the coffee maker at 6 AM trying to pop your back like a bag of microwave popcorn. My rule of thumb is stop when my form starts looking like a question mark, because that's when the mud starts looking like a Jackson Pollock painting. Speed is a tempting trap, but nothing fixes a tired arm except a cold beer and a good night's sleep.
