Watched a 20 year guy one-hand the levers on a cutterhead in Gulfport and my stomach dropped
I spent 6 years always using both hands on the swing and ladder levers because that's how the old timer trained me back in 2018, and I figured that was just how it had to be done. Last Tuesday I watched a 20 year operator on a 16 inch cutter in Gulfport run the whole face with one hand on the swing and the other just resting, and he made it look smoother than anything I ever did with two. Is the two hand thing actually safer or did I just learn it that way because my trainer liked it?

Man, that feeling when you realize you've been doing something harder than it needed to be is rough. Six years of muscle memory doesn't just vanish because some kid makes it look easy.
