Vent: the engineer who told me my discharge pipe layout was "lazy" really got under my skin
Guy from the Army Corps stops by my job site last Thursday while I'm setting up a new dredge on the Mississippi near Baton Rouge. I had the pipe running a certain way to avoid a big patch of dead trees and stumps. He said it added too much head loss and called the layout lazy. I was pissed at first. But I went back and checked the numbers. He was right about the friction loss, I was losing about 15 feet of head on that run. Rerouted it the way he suggested, added two extra floats. Pump ran smoother all day. Still don't like his tone though. Anyone else dealt with Corps guys who act like they own the river?

Used to roll my eyes at Corps guys but that friction loss lesson won me over for sure.
