Update: Had to choose between a new cutter head or a full pump rebuild on the old Bay City.
The dredge was down near Mobile Bay with a worn out 24-inch cutter and low pump pressure. Boss gave me a tight budget and said pick one fix for now. I went with the new cutter head, thinking better digging would help more than a few extra PSI. It worked okay for the sand, but we're still fighting to move the heavier clay mix. Anyone else faced a call like that on a tight job?

Reminds me of a time we patched a pump housing with epoxy just to finish a job... bought us a week before it blew out completely. Sometimes the cheap fix just kicks the problem down the road. You just hope it holds until payday.
