TIL the hard way why you check your slurry lines before starting a shift
Last Tuesday over in Pascagoula, I fired up the cutterhead and heard this weird hiss before we even broke ground. Turns out a section of discharge line had a pinhole leak from last month's abrasion, and it was spraying a fine mist everywhere. I'd skipped the pre-shift walkdown because we were behind schedule, and it cost us 45 minutes to swap the section once the slurry pressure spiked. Now I spend the first 10 minutes every morning walking the whole line, checking for wet spots and listening for air. Anyone else have a quick maintenance habit that saved them from a messy shutdown?
