The 9pm suction drop that exposed my ladder placement habit
I was running the same strip near the Sacramento delta for about 4 years. Last month I hit a rough patch at 9pm, suction just fell off a cliff, thought it was the pump. Took me 45 minutes of checking everything before I realized the intake ladder was sitting 6 feet too high off the bottom. All that time I'd been eyeballing it from the deck instead of climbing down and measuring. A buddy from a different crew told me he sets his ladder by feel every shift and never had this issue. Now I take the 2 minutes to drop a marked line down the casing before starting, saved my whole night shift. Has anyone else had a moment where a basic setup habit was the real problem?
