Switched from a 2-inch to a 4-inch suction hose on my small cutterhead dredge for a silt job.

The material removal rate doubled in the first hour. Anyone else find a simple hose upgrade made a bigger difference than expected?

Put a four inch on my old 8/6 pump for clearing pond muck and it pulled like I'd doubled the engine size. I was surprised how much less cavitation I got too. Did you see any change in hose wear from the bigger diameter?

Ever think the hose was just a dumb pipe? I used to focus on pump size and engine power. But seeing your numbers, maybe the hose is the real choke point. That's a huge jump for just swapping a tube. Makes you wonder what other simple fixes we're all missing.
