Swapped my old bucket routine for a flowmeter and never looked back
For 8 years I measured dredge output by counting bucket loads and timing each pass. Got it down to a guess within 10%. Then last spring a buddy in Baton Rouge told me to try a cheap flowmeter on the discharge line. First week I found out my '10% guess' was off by almost 30% on soft mud. Now I calibrate every Monday and log the numbers on my phone. Way less guessing, way less fuel wasted. Has anyone else swapped old methods for a simple sensor? What did you pick?

My 10% guess was really just a wild swing in the dark, so I feel your pain. I put a simple pressure gauge on my suction line and found out my "instinct" was basically a coin flip. Now I just glance at the needle instead of lying to myself about knowing what's happening.
