Showerthought: I was running my cutterhead way too fast for silt and didn't know it until the pump clogged for the third time last week.

That is the absolute worst way to figure out your cutter speed. Nothing kills a day faster than a clogged pump, especially when it happens over and over. You just end up fighting the same problem instead of getting work done. Slowing it down for silt feels wrong because it seems like you should be going faster, but it just turns everything to soup. Hope you got it sorted without too much more trouble.

Man, @kai818 is dead on about the pump clogs. Saw a guy try to power through a silt bed once, thought speed would fix it. The whole pit turned into this thick gray mess, like mixing cement. They spent more time hosing out the pump basket than actually cutting. That soup just locks everything up solid.
