Serious question, why does everyone baby their booster pump?

I see guys all the time running their booster pump on the lowest setting to save wear. I used to do that too for the first 3 years on the Mississippi job. Then I had a senior operator tell me I was actually causing more cavitation issues. I cranked mine up to 80% and the whole system smoothed out, less vibration, less downtime. Has anyone else tried running theirs harder and seen better results?

Honestly I read a white paper from one of the pump manufacturers a while back that said running them at low speeds actually makes the impeller work harder against backpressure. I tried cranking mine up after that and the noise dropped way off, plus my seals stopped leaking every six months. It goes against what feels right but the data backs it up from what I've seen.
