Changed my mind about running cutterhead at full tilt all the time

Old timer on the Mississippi last month showed me how backing off 10% actually lets the pump clear more volume an hour. Has anyone else tested slower speeds for better yardage on really packed sand?

Used to be the opposite. Was all about grip until I tried running on packed clay with shallow lugs. Slid all over the place, almost ate it bad. Totally switched my view after that.
